Doubt

Do you have doubts about yourself?  Doubts about God?  Do you think maybe that it's all one big hoax?  What about doubts about your friends?  Doubting is a pretty normal thing.  We all do it.  However, we have a hope that is true and firm, and that hope is in God.  Here's what the Bible says to encourage us when we doubt:

Psalm 146

 ¹ Praise the Lord!

   Let all that I am praise the Lord.
    ² I will praise the Lord as long as I live.
      I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.

 ³ Don’t put your confidence in powerful people;
      there is no help for you there.
 ⁴ When they breathe their last, they return to the earth,
      and all their plans die with them.
 ⁵ But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper,
      whose hope is in the Lord their God.
 ⁶ He made heaven and earth,
      the sea, and everything in them.
      He keeps every promise forever.
 ⁷ He gives justice to the oppressed
      and food to the hungry.
   The Lord frees the prisoners.
    ⁸ The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
   The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
      The Lord loves the godly.
 ⁹ The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
      He cares for the orphans and widows,
      but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.

 ¹⁰ The Lord will reign forever.
      He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations.

   Praise the Lord!

Proverbs 30:5

 ⁵ Every word of God proves true.
      He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.

John 20:24-29

 ²⁴ One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), was not with the others when Jesus came. ²⁵ They told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

   But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.”

 ²⁶ Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. ²⁷ Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”

 ²⁸ “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.

 ²⁹ Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”
